DECLARATION REGARDING CUBA

(Regarding the events of July 11, 2021)

Cuban citizens have suffered from a totalitarian dictatorship for over 62 years. The brothers Fidel and Raul Castro, tyrants and murderers, are primarily responsible for the victims of socialism in Cuba. Thousands of Cubans have been killed; others have died missing in the Straits of Florida; or have suffered torture and long years in prison.

The government of the United States has a long list of military interventions in recent years. Grenada 1983, Panama 1989, Somalia 1993, Yugoslavia 1999, Afghanistan 2001, Iraq 2003, Haiti 2010, Libya 2011 and Syria 2014 to name a few. In most of these cases the U.S. Army and Navy have had to travel thousands of miles. Why does the United States never act against a gang of criminals 90 miles away?

The controversial answer to this question is beside the point. We are not talking about various US administrations that have done nothing about it in the past. We are in 2021, and after 62 years of dictatorship we demand a strong response from Mr. Joseph Biden. It is now that we demand that action.

All this time, the tyranny in Cuba has shielded itself in a supposed blockade by US administrations. With this blockade, which does not exist, they justify their economic incapacity and their crimes. It is now when a real blockade must be imposed on those murderers, an air and naval blockade would bring down that dictatorship in a few days.

Since Sunday, July 11 2021, there have been protests in Cuba that have been brutally repressed by the regime. Not only does the United States government not act, but it prevents Cuban patriots from providing weapons to Cuba from Florida. There are cowardly politicians in South Florida who talk about “solidarity with Cuba” or “humanitarian aid.” Thousands of Cubans have died and many others will die. Another one of those crimes may be taking place right now.

What Cuban citizens need is a direct intervention to put an end to that dictatorship once and for all. The tyranny in Cuba is totally demoralized and it is very likely that the army and police will side with the people. A national strike can even bring down the tyranny without firing a single shot. But in all these cases, the real will of the United States is needed, not only as an example of freedom, but to make those murderers see that they can be wiped out if they do not immediately surrender power.

It is death or life, and you can not mistake it. Those who have you, oh freedom, do not know you. Those who do not have you should not talk about you, but conquer you. Never without profound pain did man produce truly beautiful works. (José Martí, the greatest of Cubans)

Cubans inside and outside yearn for a free Cuba. Freedom costs. The Cubans could conquer it for themselves. But the tyrant and murderer Fidel Castro took away the weapons from the Cuban people more than 60 years ago.

In 1781 a group of Cubans sent a significant amount of money for the cause of the revolution in the 13 colonies. That sum was decisive for the French armies that supported George Washington’s final victory and the birth of the United States, the freest country in the world -- with Washington as its first president.

Freedom is not measured through mathematical favors, that is why I believe that the United States should reciprocate the gesture of Cubans in 1781, without questioning what they did for Cuba in the 1895 war.

I am calling on all Cubans to apply pressure, in every way possible, to the United States government that is in Washington right now. Because for Cubans there may be no tomorrow.
